Forbes Museum of Pigment & Color

Design Vision
I aimed to celebrate the diversity of cultures and individuals through color. The history and meaning of colors are not fixed but evolve as they intersect with the values and trends of our society. To showcase this, I adopted a dynamic design approach to visually express the transformation and progression of colors. This design focuses on exploring the diverse stories behind colors and offering visitors a fresh perspective on their significance.

Concept
I have designed a new museum centered around the theme of the Forbes Pigment Collection, which is one of the collections housed by the Harvard Museum of Art. The museum's design philosophy is centered on the concept of 'overlapping.' It aims to offer visitors novel experiences with colors and dyes, prompting them to contemplate how the meanings of colors shift and evolve over historical trends. The museum's primary objective is to explore diverse perspectives on color.

The diverse patterns derived from the transformation of the logo design are utilized in the museum’s branding. These patterns visually embody the values of the museum’s logo, symbolizing the overlapping of colors and the layering of meanings. They are featured in holiday packaging, stamp designs, and more, celebrating the multifaceted beauty of color.

To extend the museum experience into the digital realm, I designed a digital magazine and an app. The digital magazine serves as an archive, documenting the history and stories behind each pigment and dye. The app provides insights into the dyes and histories associated with the colors found in everyday objects, connecting users to the rich narratives of color in a modern and accessible way.
